We’ve mentioned Personally Speaking, the website for after-dinner speakers before. But why are they still giving major plugs to Brody Sweeney, Chairman and Founder of O’Briens Irish Sandwich Bars? Here’s some of their guff today:

“Brody’s best selling book ‘Making Bread – the real way to start up and stay up in business’ was published in 2006. His second book ‘Small to Tall – growing your business from it’s [sic] entrepreneurial roots’, will be published Autumn of 2008.”

But it’s now nearly autumn 2009, and the head office in the Irish Republic of O’Briens Sandwich Bars has been in examinership for a good while now…

Where do people who do the news come from? In Ireland that has to be DCU. Dublin City University’s School of Communications.

And what’s the latest news being communicated by the news people in this communications school?

More than two years old, that’s what. Has nothing remotely neworthy happened at the school for news since then?

But never mind. The banner ad explains that at least you had a great experience and made lots of friends at DCU. That’s the main thing.

And what does a tagline like “You can go anywhere from here” actually mean? Going on the dole?

Graham Knuttel could well be Ireland’s most successful living artist, at least in money terms. He started in sculpture, then did paintings that Sylvester Stallone and Robert De Niro like, then stamps, then… rugs.

And then we fell asleep.

Who writes this guff? Who updates it? It’s not as if Knuttel is a poor starving artist in a garret in – ahem – Darndale is it?
